Knitting Dream Come Through - Wine Garter Stitch Scarf

My garter stitch scarf is completed, I weaved in the tails of yarn that were hanging on the sides where I added more yarn and at the beginning and ending of the scarf.  I wore my scarf for the first time today on my trip to Washington DC, and it felt good, nice and warm.  I can only say there will be more knitting projects in my future.

  1. Beautiful job Sann! First projects in knitting sometimes look wonky, but yours has nice straight edges, even stitches, and looks great.

  2. Thank you, one of the things I like about this scarf is you can pull it into a fairly normal shape if it seems a bit off, but I got it as close to straight as I could.

Install Rain Barrel and Compost Tumbler

I thought of doing a DIY rain barrel but with all the planting I was doing, a bit of help is worth it, so I bought a rain barrel and compost tumbler, got a good deal from my town.

Lots of research online later, I found the perfect downspout rain water collection system by Oatey to channel the water to my barrel. I bought 2 Oatey system so I may make that DIY rain barrel yet :-).

I started with building the stand for the barrel on a Sunday. I used concrete 12in x 12in stepping stone pavers and 4in x 8in pavers, I created a pattern and stack them, I did use pieces of slate to level the barrel. I kept the stand low so I did not need to make it permanent, I like that I can move it anytime I wish.

I dd not have enough pavers on …
